Harvard social psychologist Amy Cuddy discovered that striking a confident pose for just two minutes can change your hormone levels—raising testosterone and lowering cortisol. Before your photo session, step into a private space and try this:
Stand tall, feet shoulder-width apart
Hands on hips or arms raised in a V-shape
Breathe deeply and tell yourself: “I deserve to be seen.”
You’re not just posing. You’re priming your brain to feel strong.
So many of us judge our "photogenic-ness" as if it's a talent we either have or don’t. Truth is, confidence grows with preparation and effort. Practice smiling in the mirror. Record short videos of yourself. Notice what feels natural, and what needs adjusting.
Ask yourself: Am I trying to look perfect, or am I trying to connect?
You don’t need to be confident. You need to practice confidence.
Want to find your flow in front of the lens? Repetition is key. Set up your phone and take a few photos or videos in your everyday clothes. Get used to seeing yourself from different angles. Instead of judging, study. Smile with your eyes. Move your body.
Flow doesn’t happen when you’re obsessing about the outcome. It happens when you let go, take action, and stay curious.
Remember: the best photos don’t come from stiff poses. They come from moments of real connection. Your job isn’t to impress the camera. It’s to express who you are.
Take a deep breath. Focus on someone you love. Think about a moment you’re proud of. Let that feeling rise up. Then let it come through your eyes.
That’s the magic shot.
You don’t need to be a model to look amazing in photos. You need intention, effort, and a little science-backed swagger. As your photographer, I’ll help guide you every step of the way.
And if you want a deeper transformation—where your confidence in front of the camera ripples out into everyday life—reach out. Let’s make magic.
